Yes! Did you know they're close-ishly related to grasshoppers?
Some fly, but this one didn't have large wings it seems. I spent about 10 minutes with this mantis, and at some point offered him to check out my hand, which he seemed ok with and walked onto it. After a bit though, he hopped back to the plant he was on, and after a while more jumped off that one into the tall grass to never be seen again...
 
I actually did know that! And they have no respect for their cousins. I watched one stalk and then devour a grasshopper on my deck last summer. I stopped shooting after it bit the head off o_O
