I was called on to do some senior portraits for my grandson who will graduate from high school in May. He wasn't the one who wanted the pictures of course, but the parents did! They also asked that he wear something other than his usual wrinkled and faded tee shirt and shorts (a kid after my own heart!).

I took him on Sunday afternoon to a local park and we were there with about 20 other "lifestyle" photographers taking pictures as well as hundreds of others out for walks or bike rides! I quickly discovered he does not like his smile so it was a challenge to get him to look pleasant but we made the most of it. Typical teenager, a fair amount of acne, he wears his hair in a small ponytail on top of his head and he's attempting to grow a beard but it's not really happening yet.

Later we went to an old trestle bridge that crosses the river. The only school sport he is involved in is what they call E-Sports. Basically video games between different school teams. I asked what sport did he play in the video games and he said mostly just shooting the opponents! He said he probably will get a Letter Jacket for the sport. I wondered instead of a football do they embroider a keyboard on it?

So here are a few of my edits. When I worked professionally I shot models for ads and rarely did "lifestyle" portraits other than my own kids. It's challenging. I had him bring his fancy virtual reality headset and had an idea to swap the blue sky for one with stars in the last shot. All taken with the Canon R and either of 3 lenses I brought along; Canon RF 70-200mm f/4, Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 and a Canon EF 85mm f1.2.

Really nicely done. I like the one with the sunglasses and him looking over to the side the most, it gets that teenage angst look down well. And the composite with the VR set is cool.
