Our promo code "RFShooters" will drop the price of all Topaz Labs software products such as DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI by 15%.

The code needs to be entered at the checkout.

Affiliate Link: https://topazlabs.com/ref/424/?campaign=rfshooters
Promo code: RFShooters (for 15% off)

This offer also works when Topaz are running their own promotions. So if they are running a 20% off promotion you'll still get an additional 15% off when you apply our code.

I mainly use DeNoise myself but only for images that really need it, a little noise doesn't normally worry me too much. I'll post some before and after photos when I get the chance.

It would be great to hear your own thoughts on the Topaz Labs products.

I love Topaz Sharpen and gigapixel, and use them quite often. However, I am still on the fence about whether Topaz Denoise Ai or DxO Deep Prime is better. They are both better than the ON1 denoiser.
ps: I am a big cropper and high ISO user for BIF.

Off topic, but the Fred Miranda bunch are finding that the new FW update (1.5.1) not only has eliminated freeze issue, but has improved the animal eye tracking. (made it snappier). I am updating mine today so will report.

I have de-noise and it's OK, sharpen didn't impress so I didn't buy after the trial. Someone I was talking to said I shopped try again as it's much improved...I might give it a try.
Thanks for the discount link too!

That's great about the discount link. I find denoise and sharpen to be of great help. And with little song birds gigapixel is a good investment as well.

Great news - going to check it out and update mine now.

I'm currently have a trial of Topaz Sharpen on the go and have found it to be quite impressive. Had excellent results with some flowers which I thought were sharp. Think I will buy and use the code when I do. Not needing Denoise as have DxO Pure Raw.

Can you share the images before and after Ken?
Before and after Topaz Sharpen AI. The Topaz has a watermark on it as it's a trial version. I'm still in a learning curve with it at the moment as only had a couplew of days.

There's a marked difference Ken. Topaz definitely better but I presume the other one hasn't been edited at all?
I hope you don't mind but I wanted to compare with Photoshop too so simply sharpened your original image. I think the Photoshop one is again better but on a par with Topaz.
I was considering wether to but the Topaz one but as I already subscribe to Adobe on a monthly basis to do all my preocessing I don't see a benefit for paying more for Topaz. If I didn't then I would pay the one off fee for Topaz.
Thanks for sharing your images.

Dave, I've gone into LR and did an edit from the raw file.

I guess a lot depends on how much sharpening you apply. I must admit I hate to see over sharpened images which, in my opinion, some people make the mistake of doing, especially birds.

Topaz has 10 sharpening models in their software. You can pull up 4 at a time and compare. On my calibrated monitor with R5 files, IMHO it does a much better job than photoshop.

I started using the Topaz portfolio recently (pity I missed the extra 15% discount!). I've used Sharpen on several images and have been impressed. I can't compare with Photoshop as I'm not a fan of Adobe's subscription model and have started to use Affinity Photo instead. So far I haven't managed to get the same improvement with Affinity as Topaz Sharpen achieves. I've attached an example - it's not a good photo (taken from a moving car) but I liked the police vehicle.

Here is a test pic shot at ISO 25,600 on the R5. Not meant to be a real photo just a test. Then the pic was run through DxO with Deep Prime, and Topaz Denoise AI, both with their standard settings. Original also included. These were untouched except for the NR. The DxO was RAW decoded in DxO (CR3 sent from LR to PL5), the Topaz was RAW decoded in LR and NR applied using "edit in." Then all three exported from LR as jpeg.

There is a noticeable color and saturation difference between the DxO and the LR decoding of the RAW. My typical workflow is: import to LR>Cull> batch send to DxO> back to LR as DNG. Even though Adobe has updated LR, I think DxO PL5 does a better RAW processing. Yes, I can make the LR RAW look like the DxO, but DxO does it from the get.

DxO does a realy great job. I have DxO Pure Raw if I need to just apply niose reduction before importing to other image editing software. I also have DxO PL5 if I just want to use a single program. I do agree with RedCobra that DxO RAW processing is better than LR, although now it has camera matching there has been some imorovement

I have configured a preset in PL5 to be the same as Pure RAW. (Optics/Deep Prime). Do you find that going in and out of Pure Raw is faster than just using PL5? I load into LR, cull, batch send to PL5 where the preset is applied, and then batch back to LR as DNG.

I can't say I've noticed a time diference in going in and out of PL5. I usually Sort my images in LR and select any that need NR then run through PR into a folder. Then carry out any edits after in LR or Affinity Photo. Sometimes I just go into PL5 if it's just one or two images.
At the moment I'm just assesing several programs, mainly to see if I could ditch the Adobe monthly subscription plan.
However, since LR introduced their new masking I have gone back to using LR more. No doubt though for me that DxO Prime NR takes some beating over other image editing programs I've tried.
