I just replaced one of my R5's with an R5 MkII. I know you can use the R5 LP-E6NH battery in the R5 MkII with limited functionality. What I can't find an answer to is if you can use the new LP-E6P in an R5.
Thanks,
Jeff

EDIT: From the Canon R5 support page:

Firmware Version 2.1.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:
1. Enables functions to be used without limitation in conjunction with the new Battery Pack LP-E6P.
This makes it possible to shoot at the same continuous shooting speed as when using LP-E6NH.
In-camera charging of LP-E6P is also supported.

Thanks Anton. I did download the firmware update, but as I'm on a shoot, I don't want to install it until I get home. Still wondering if the LP-E6P can retro to my R5's. Don't see why not but not sure if the power difference may affect the R5 negatively.

Those release notes state very clearly (to me) that the R5 and LP-E6P are completely compatible. Go for it!
