I belong to a couple Beginning Photographers Groups on social media that have a multiple number of Thousands members multiple times a day the question is asked:

"What is the best camera for a beginner?"
...and often with that won't break the bank.

Many replies include one manufacture over another or an exact model and lens claiming it has the best advanced technology.

SIDE NOTE: Which reminds me of a quote by Douglas Adams, "We are stuck with technology when what we really want is just stuff that works."

There are also those that reply: "What are you going to be photographing?"

Ay, there's the rub.* (Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 1)

What does a beginning photographer know what they will be shooting a year from now... three years from now?

Question time:

What was your first interest: Nature, People, Manmade Objects, Abstract...? Has it changed from when you picked up your first camera.

Very good question!
My answer to the initial 'best camera for a beginner' is a simple one, pick up and handle a few different ones and see what feels good in the hand and after that - what you can afford without breaking the bank, learn / play / practice and then once you are happy with your subject genre save up and the world is your oyster.

Second question - thought long and hard and can't really pick a single 'start point' even now although trackside motorsport is my main 'gig' I love landscapes and wildlife a LOT so for me. . . . . everything ;-)
