Canon R5 Button and Dial Programming

I sure am glad that Canon allows you to map Buttons and Dials. I had the Main Dial set to for Tv on my R5, but I have noticed over the past year that the dial is sporadic, so I changed the position to Quick Control Dial 1.

Quick Control Dial 2 is set for ISO and the lens Control Ring for Fv.

Guess what? My EOS R doesn't have a Quick Control Dial 2, so I am going to leave it as Tv.

What is your pattern setup?

Lets see....

Record button is set to cycle thru the drive modes
Multi-function button set to cycle through the custom shooting modes
AE Lock button set to select subject to detect
AF Point button set to cycle thru the different focus areas/modes
DOF Preview button set to Pre-Cont shooting on/off

I have C1 set to highspeed/fast shutter + precapture for BIF, C2 set to low speed/moderate shutter for stationary critters and C3 set to single shot, Aperture priority.

I did discover something curious... I was attempting to set my Quick Dial 1 to Exposure Compensation, but noticed the option said "while holding metering button".... Um, what metering button? I have no hard buttons marked with the [+/-] symbol. I checked the manual AND in Nina Baily's guide. No mention of dedicated metering button. Weird.

OK, found out that there is not a dedicated hard button for the metering button. You have to program one for that function. That makes sense.
