Note to selves: really should use this lens (a lot) more often...

(Warning - over-head portraits may cause injury by giggling!).

In thumbnail, that second shot looks like a helmet! Gray and blue exterior, visor, bright throttle controls are the nose, not 100% sure what the yellow things are yet.

Hi Anton,

I believe they were seat covers - I’m not particularly technical, but did I try to avoid touching anything labelled ‘eject’… :)

(We visited IWM Duxford last year and saw an English Electric Lightning - a UK single seater fighter - in which a hapless engineer managed to press the wrong thing at the wrong time and ended up taking off. The story ended happily as, somehow, he managed to land it again!).

Self portrait of the artist as a ... well ... old man. On board the Westerdam out of Seattle.

Back in 2021 I stumbled on a ridiculously cheap used Sigma 4.5mm circular fisheye for APS-C cameras. I only had it for a few weeks and only took it out a few times. It was fun to use, in its way, but also very hard to use. There is so much going on in the frame that needs wrangling, not to mention keeping your feet (and in my case, belly) out of the shot. And, of course, no cropping, ever.

I bought that lens to sell it. I got 3x what I paid for it. Apparently it's popular with astrophotographers. But I sold it particularly quickly. After using it a few times I thought, OK, if I use this a couple of more times, I'm going to become "The Fisheye Guy." I didn't want that.

I do kinda miss it though. I made some striking pictures with that lens. It would be fun to take one out again.

Yeah, those yellow things are either seat covers or floor mats. You get a 180 degree field of view, top to bottom, left to right.
