Hi Everyone, thanks for the approval.

Brand new to Canon and pretty green on the whole digital thing.

But have been a film die hard for years. Last month my hotel room was broken into and my beloved Leica M6 and three lenses were swiped. This was pretty heartbreaking as I had owned them for 15 years.

So time for something new, thanks to insurance I have now chosen an R5, 24-105 f4, 70-200 f4 and the 50 1.8.

Lots to learn, and looking forward to exploring some macro photography, which was pretty difficult to do with rangefinder cameras.

It’s not my first digital set-up; I have an Epson Rd1 body and a lumix LX100 pocket camera.

So will be lurking reading and learning.

Hi, Jason! Welcome to RF.

Sorry to hear about the stolen gear. But good to hear that you were able to turn the page. Canon (and the others too) makes really good gear. Maybe the change will expand your photography.

I also have the R5 and the 24-105/4 L, fantastic gear. A few years ago I used the R5 for macro. It worked great, but later, when I got the R7, I found what many do, that macro is easier in the crop format. Lots of us are hoping for an R7 Mark II to be issued soon. We are keeping track of the rumours. Watched pots don't boil, however.

Looking forward to seeing your photos with the new gear.

Hi Jason and welcome to the forum. I wish that would have come here due to different circumstances, a thief is one of the lowest forms of humans on the planet. Happy to hear that your insurance was able to help you make a transition.

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
