Finally, a decent manual for the Canon R5 / R6. The book by David Busch is released 21st October 2021 in the U.K. Always found the manuals by David Busch to be excellent, starting with the one for my old 7D and then for the 6D2.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out.

That looks like a great manual, but whoa, it's quite pricey.

I bought the original version of “Understanding the Canon EOS R6” by Nina Bailey before taking advantage of Canon’s Test Drive scheme to try an R6. I found it very helpful, particularly in seeing how the R6 differed from my 70D before it arrived. (I subsequently bought an R6). There is a separate book for the R5 - both are pdf downloads. The R6 book was £17.95 when I bought it and there have been two updated editions (both free) since then. The R6 book can be found here: https://www.eos-magazine.com/ebooks/camera/r6/understanding-eos-r6.html and the R5 version here: https://www.eos-magazine.com/ebooks/camera/r5/understanding-eos-r5.html.

Being a subscriber to the EOS magazine I've got the Nina Bailey version for the R5. Her photography topics books are quite good and I have several of them. All are for use with Canon cameras.

Looked the book up on Amazon. The paperback version was £22:29 yesterday evening and Kindle version £20:29 down from £30. When I ordered the paperback it strangely says its the R6 book yet shows picture of R5/R6 book as for the Kindle version. Hoping its an error on their part otherwise it will go back. Noticed today its gone up to £24:60. I did have a look in the Kindle version as it has the contents and and initial first section to view.

I do agree with you that this is an excellent manual. Got it from Amazon saving around £8 and I've already found out a few basic things I was unaware of for the R5 in the early chapters. I'm sure once I get deeper into the book to the more complex things there is much more to be learnt.

Thanks for the link to the R6 book. I DL it and do like the EOS magazine and the Canon specific articles.

Version 4 of Nina Bailey’s book “Understanding the Canon EOS R6” and its R5 equivalent are now available. The update covers the v1.5.0 firmware and is free until 31 January if you have bought a previous edition.

Canon has also updated its advanced user guides for the R5 & R6 - the R6 version is here: https://cam.start.canon/hy/C004/manual/c004.pdf.
