I just got back from a 2-week photo trip to Costa Rica, so I thought maybe I'd just make one thread and post the bird images in here as I go.
First off is a Prong-Billed Barbet

That is a fantastic shot! Great composition - I can never seem to catch a bird looking in my direction.

Thank you! Under normal conditions, I seem to have that problem as well. The minute I raise the camera, they look the other way!

A few more. The first two are green-crowned brilliant hummingbirds. The third is a green hermit hummingbird and the big guy is a keel-billed toucan. 2022_07_01_CostaRica-10206-Edit1080.jpg

Stunning images Hali! I do love woodpeckers. I really hope to make it there myself one day.

Thank you, Tim! You would absolutely love it. I hope to make it to Ecuador someday, I hear the birding there is even better.

It's been a while since I added to this. Although the Muscovy duck is not native to Costa Rica, it has adapted well to living there. We found a bunch in a pond behind the restaurant

we had lunch in one day.

A Violet Saberwing (Campylopterus hemileucurus) and a Bananquit (Coereba flaveola) are equally surprised at each other's presence on a Spiral Ginger (Costus Monatanus)

Lovely timing. The colours are fantastic too.

Paul.
Thank you, Paul! The hummingbirds in Costa Rica are so colorful and beautiful!

A purple throated mountain gem (Lampornis calolaemus). 3 views showing how light affects how it shows off its colors.
