Canon R5 II Customised Buttons

I use the C1, C2 and C3 on my R5 MKii for different scenarios. My question is this:
If i customise a button does that carry across to C1,2 and 3 or do i need to set up specifically for each one?

So example, if i switch to manual mode and customise a button, does that button remain customised if i then switch to C1, 2 or 3?

Most buttons are customised separately for C1, C2 and C3.

If you wish buttons to work the same way (or in different ways), it is necessary to assign values separately (three times over) for C1, C2 and C3.

Example:

• C1 : AF assigned to Shutter button.
• C2 : AF deactivated on Shutter button.

Comment:

• This isn't as it difficult as it might seem: all buttons have default settings that can be left undisturbed.

• M-Fn set to "C".
• Pressing repeatedly M-Fn cycles through C1—>C2—>C3—C1—>
• This applies irrespective of the mode that the camera is in.

Comment:

• For me, setting M-Fn button to "C" has proven extraordinary useful.

My suggestions are…

1. Initially:
   • Setup your R5m2 so that it is ‘just the way I want it’.
   • Save the settings to C1. (menu: Yellow 5)
   • Also save the settings to C2. (Yellow 5)
2. Backup C1, C2 & C3 to card. (Yellow 5)
   • Suggested file name format: YYmmDD_X.CSD
   • Example: 261225_A.CSD — if you're tinkering on Christmas Day!
3. Refine your settings:
   • Switch to C2 (identical to C1) and make further changes/refinements.
   • Save those settings to C2. (Yellow 5)
   • When you are positive you've 'got it right', also save the settings to C1. (Yellow 5)
   • Backup all camera settings to card. (Yellow 5)
4. Continue refining and saving:
   • Make the changes using C2 (for safety's sake) and replace C1's settings only when you are 'absolutely sure'.
   • Backup all camera settings to card. (Yellow 5)
     • If you're following my file format, the second file will be 261225_B.CSD.
     • Assuming it's Boxing Day, the next file will be 261226_A.CSD.
     • On New Year's Day the file will be named 270101_A.CSD.
5. Save… Save… Save!
   • This includes taking the card out of the camera and copying the YYmmDD_X.CSD files to your computer.

QUESTION: Why don't I simply allow the camera to name the .CSD files sequentially?

ANSWER: To avoid confusion.

1. When I have to restore the camera to its pre-tampering state, I need to know whether the file (on the card) is recent or ancient — it makes a difference!
2. I have two R5m2 bodies, so it's possible (actually, certain) that their sequentially-numbered files will be 'out of sync'. The cards are often swapped between camera bodies.
