I decided to take another look at the photograph I took three years ago. In shooting it I felt it was a keeper, but after viewing it when I got home I wasn't so sure... But, if I didn't take it, then I'd never know.

Another like. There is enough detail in the trees to the right and the foreground water. The rest is moody and all-in-all a good image showing the conditions. I suspect a colour version may not work so well.

To me, the part without the trees on the right is the stronger element. They (whatever is there) are there but hiding in plain sight. The dark trees on the right overwhelm the view and take away from the mystery. (Pun intended)

Until recently, I haven’t been much of a b&w kind of guy for my photos. I like deep, rich color. I am developing an appreciation now for black and white, and Dean’s photo above (and others previously posted) is proof that it can convey a mood that maybe color can’t. Now I need to turn the switch to black and white and see what happens.

Here is another from the same trip.
37° F (3° C) Clouds ceiling lowering, vaper rising from the lake, and then it began snowing. Not much color to be seen.
