My R5 has fallen off my tripod a few times before and landing on the ground without an issue. Apparently, brick isn't as forgiving. Well out of warranty and no Canon Care.

Preliminary report: It appears the only damage is to the viewfinder. It does brush up against the screen when it gets flipped out. 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens is okay.

Bummer. If it's just the frame that's cracked, I would consider taking off the eye cup and trying a mixture of baking soda and super glue to fill the cracks. It sets up well and creates quite a strong bond.

And then I'd replace the rubber eye cup with an extended version. I bought one for the R52 and it's way better than the original.

Yep. I went out again to finish the shot.

In fact, I have all three suggestions completed and I'm thinking of posting all three instead of waiting and posting one.

'Odd' coloured bricks.

Refractory bricks are used to line things like kilns. Some are traditional brick colour, some are beige, some are black - with and without a coloured metallic sheen, etc.

Some are even purple.
