DXO partnering with my Photo Club

I'm now the new president of our local community photography club. Haven't let it go to my head with issuing any executive orders so far but I seem to now get email from companies, other clubs and vendors.

I was contacted last week by someone in marketing at DXO. They offered a partnership with our club where eligible members of our club can get a 20% discount on any of the DXO products. They ask that we put the information on how to get the discount where only paid up current members can see it and not in public which seems perfectly fair. I've had my eye on the Nik Collection for some time so I will most likely get it now. I also am interested in either DXO Pure-Raw or DXO Photolab-8 as an alternative to Lightroom, should they keep raising the subscription rate.

We already get some club discounts with ThinkTank and some other gear, perks like this are good incentive for our club members to stay in the club.

So far, we have a few members who live out of the area but most are local. The guy from DXO said this is a new marketing strategy to increase interest in their products.

A 20% discount on an Aston Martin wouldn't help me at all. I am so broke I can't even pay attention. Ok....not really....but my father used to say that and I always thought it was funny.

The subscription rate did not go up for anyone who was a customer before January 15th of 2025. After January 15 the 20GB Photo plan was no longer offered to new customers - only. The 20GB photo plan payment for current customers was restructured. You have to pay the $120 up front for the whole year, which I will do the November when my plan renews. I did that for about 5 years anyway. So my price has not gone up.

New customers may not like the 1TB Photo Plan at $20 a month so Adobe made a change. The 1TB and Lr plan (with no PS) went up from $10 a month to $12 a month. Adobe added LrC to that plan. People who don't need PS can still get LrC for a decent price.

I forgot to say. If you decide to continue paying monthly for the 20GB Photo Plan it will go up to $15 a month. There were no other changes made to any other plans. Also that has been the first price increase for new customers and payment restructuring for current customers in 8 years.

Just for others that are interested. PL is a good app. No denying that. PL 9 will be available in October. If you purchase PL8 today you get about 7 months of support left. Nothing wrong with it. It's just their business model.

DXO PureRaw 5 will be out on April 15. Safe to buy PR4 because now it's within 30 days of a new release so you will get PR5. Last month was not an ideal time to buy PR4. That 30 day window applies to PL as well.
