I downloaded the EOS R5 Mark II Firmware Version 1.2.0 and when I try to run the update it finds the 1.2.0 FW then starts, and blanks out with a click of the shutter.

Anybody else having this issue?

Bryan…

I suggest that you use Camera Connect (Canon’s smartphone app) to look after all firmware upgrades.

There’ll be no need to search for the firmware, download it, transfer it to card, find the place in the menu system, etc… all will be done for you by the app!

With Camera Connect enabled, one won’t even have to know that there is an upgrade available: it’s all taken care of!

I will in the future, but I did not need to do so with any of my body's when I updated in the past, and the R5 MKII just after I got the body.

Who knows with the tech these days that keeps getting more sophisticated. Something may never go wrong but you just don't know. Canon needs to cover their behinds as well so that is probably the main reason.

Thanks for the info David, I'll look at that for the future.
