Firmware update

Has anyone heard of a new firmware update for the R series that is due out in February? I have tried various placed like canon Rumours etc, but cannot find any further info.

Sounds like it might be April now according to Canon Rumors. I've had mine freeze a couple of times taking photos so it would be nice if they sorted that out.

I’m a newbie to this forum and to the mirrorless series (long time Canon shooter though!)... just received my R5 a couple weeks ago. How often are there updates? Do we get notified of such updates? Thanks!

Typically newer cameras receive more updates as bugs are discovered, then after a year or so the updates will slow down. The R5 is already on the 3rd firmware version since launch. If you have registered your R5 with Canon then you might get notified of new firmware, I say might because it doesn't always happen but you will definitely get a lot of marketing spam from them. I'll drop a post on the blog part of this site when there is a new update and in the R5 forum. I've been a long time canon shooter and also just acquired my r5 ... i had the Canon representative walk me thru the process and updated my 24-105 f4 and something else ... but my understanding any EOS line item they'll walk you through... so might be something to ask them

I’m waiting on a firmware update to fix a major bug with my studio strobes. I have a pair of interfit S1 lights but high speed sync doesn’t work using the R5. It works perfectly with my 5D4 and my R. Anyone else having HSS issues?

It appears Release 1.3 firmware didn't resolve the high-speed sync issue so it looks like I'm waiting for Interfit to address it from their end.
