I've found over the years that with the sun at 90 degrees to the right or left of the target ends up with a soft image.
This shot is a good example. at 1/8000th the image should be tack sharp, but instead it's soft. The image display shows the camera was locked onto the bird, but the eye tracking did not lock on, although if was on...
Any suggestions would be helpful. I first found this problem with my 5D Mk II and Mk IV.
