I would say it's to the right of Vancouver ;-)

Not quite sure it works, find myself looking for a point of interest - not saying it's a bad shot just needs a little 'something' if you know what I mean.

You are correct about the location!

Do all (good) photos need a strong center of interest? (Serious question.)

Ed, good question! I think it's down to personal preference - "eye of the beholder" and all that

This photo, to me, is about texture. And it does a fine job at that. The subtle tonal and color changes help emphasize the main element. Even the stacked tree trunks are parts of the texture. The vantage point also significantly contributes to the satisfying feeling the photograph conveys. The height of the tree trunks is a curiosity element to me as I am not knowledgeable about trees. But, they add to the flowing nature of the photograph. Very nicely done. It will make a lovely calming print on the wall.

Thank you for this in-depth comment, ACEkin. I appreciate it.

Lately I have become interested in photos that are rich in texture or have irregular patterns or tend to abstraction, and have no strong center of interest. I quite like some of these myself. It is fun to explore this genre... if it even is a genre. :)

Not every photograph needs a point of interest, some are designed to make the eye move over it. Like running your hand over fine fabric, or similar things.

@Archibald , I love to do nature abstracts! I think the points that @ACEkin made for the texture of tree trunks and tonal \ color variations helps add interest. I also agree that not all photographs need a point of interest.
