Forum Incoming Announcements

My phone announces when I get a reply to the thread I am following on RFS. Sometimes I have the forum open on the same page as I just sent a message and waiting for a reply. Nothing happens on the forum to say a new message is waiting. The only way to get the page to refresh is click on the (Windows) refresh icon, then the bell will have a number next to it.

Is it possible to refresh the bell every 30 seconds? I have a similar problem with chat forum but it will refresh after about 4 or 5 minutes or more

Hey Greg. Unfortunately it doesn't automatically refresh like what would happen with a dedicated app.

However, if you are using an Android phone and the Chrome browser and have installed an icon for the forum on your home screen, then it should indicate unread messages on the app icon.

Unfortunately Apple and iOS is not yet fully supporting Progressive Web Apps and that's why notifications like this won't work on an Apple device. Hopefully at some point they will fully support this.

That said. I have just found an add-on that updates the alert icons more frequently. I've set it to 30 seconds for now to see what kind of impact that has on performance. Please let me know if this is working for you.

I've had the icon on my phone for ages, works perfectly. I'll see how the forum bell performs later when I'm on the office
