Hi everyone,

I am happy to be accepted to this forum. I am purely a hobbyist and shoot with a Canon R6 and RP. I have now completed my (expensive) transition to RF lenses only which comprise of the following: 35mm f1.8, 50mm f1.8, 85mm f2.0, 24-105 f4L, 70-200 f4L, 100-400 F5.6-8, 100-500 F4.5-7.1L My wife uses the second camera (whichever one I am not using at that time😊) hence the overlap of the lense collection. I look forward to learning from all of you on this forum.

Kind regards.

Hi and Welcome.
How's the Covid situation down there? I am itching to go on another photo safari in either East Africa (Kenya/Tanzania) or South Africa like Kruger or Sabi Sands. Any information will be welcomed.

Good morning, it seems if the new Omicron variant seems to cause a higher infection rate than previous variations but people do not get very sick and locally we have a much lower rate of hospitalisation and very few deaths. Early indications are also that the rate of infections are decreasing here but more data is necessary to confirm the trend.
After an initial knee **** reaction where we were put on a red list for travel purposes, it has been lifted and many airlines have resumed flights to South Africa. The country is currently on an adjusted level 1 (lowest restrictions) which necessitates wearing of masks in public places but all our hotels, beaches, restaurants, game reserves and resorts are open so if you want to escape a northern hemisphere winter, experience a world in one country and do it relatively inexpensively (1GB£=R21; 1€=R17.80; 1US$=R15.90) you cannot do better really. Travel tip - If your favourite game reserve is fully booked, enquire if they allow day visiters and, if yes, book accommodation at the various service providers close to the reserve. Second travel tip - AirBNB and similar establishments offer exceptional value for small and larger family groups. Oh yes, and do not forget to bring your cameras😉. Hope to see all of you here soon.

Welcome and thanks for joining up here Robert! If you have any questions about the site please don't hesitate to ask.
