Have an R5 with multiple lenses

EF300mm 2.8ii. (My favourite)
70-200mm 2.8
24-70mm 2.8
100mm macro

I am a semi-serious sports photographer and have been commissioned for 2024 to take sports photos for various schools.

I’m debating whether I sell the 300mm and the 70-200mm and purchase the new RF100-300mm f2.8 lens.

Welcome Andrew and thanks for joining up here! The RF 100-300 F2.8 is definitely a dream lens for me, but that dream is a long way off!!! Any questions about the forum please son't hesitate to ask.

I thought the ef300mm f2.8 was always the lens that I would never want to let go of, until Canon released the 100-300mm. Damn you Canon!!

Hey Andrew - welcome from the other side of the planet ;-) I can highly recommend the RF 100-300 for all weathers / lighting outrageous price but outstanding results!

I would love to sell my 300 and 70-200 for the 100-300. Unfortunately I'd only cover about 1/4 of the cost... . But it really sounds like the perfect single lens for field sports. The dream combo would be a second R3 with a 400. Yeah, $30,000.

I guess I could also sell the R7 and then be a whopping 1/3 of the way to getting the 100-300! But without the 70-200 I would then also need the 24-70. Need to sell a few motorcycles.
