Just ordered myself one more, I'm curious how many lenses people usually have? One of my problem is that I shoot lot of subjects so I tend to need various lenses too. I have some number of cheap ones for funsies too, plus couple old EF-S lenses I haven't used in ages. Not sure how many I actually have but around 15 lenses (RF/EF/EF-S) I think :)

Looks like we're neighbors :) I'm at Totem Lake.

Any particular reason why you have 800 instead of 1.4x for the 100-500?
I have the 1.4x as well, I got the 800mm first with the 1.4x. I picked up the 100-500 later. Sold my Sigma EF 150-600. Always nice to meet locals.

I sold my Sigma 150-600 last week, today got my 100-500 :) Planning to get also the 1.4x.

For my R5 I currently have :

RF ....

24-70 f2.8
28-70 f2
70-200f2.8
100-500 ...

I've sold ...

RF

15-35 f2.8
50 f1.2
85 1.2
24-105 f4

All of them excellent, incl the ones sold (they just didn't get used as much).

Do you often use your 24-70 instead of 28-70? Sometimes I considered getting the 24-70 too but only good reason I see is it being smaller and lighter, and for those situations I'm usually happy with my 35mm.

I do use the 24-70 a lot, yes. It is 'inferior' to the 28-70 but not hugely ... more different as the f2 lens is remarkable.

I prefer the 24-70 on the R5 unless I am going somewhere specifically where I know the 28-70 will come into it's own.

The only issue with the 28-70 is it's weight but the IQ is simply stunning. Sharpness is OMG and I love the lens full stop ... but realise the weight is an issue in a rucksack with, say, the RF70-200 f2.8.

As an example, I will be walking around Winchester (UK) next week with the 24-70 as opposed to the 28-70 as the images I take will suit that lens just ideally. If I felt I was going to take images where I needed the 28-70 then that would be in the bag.

I am currently using both lenses equally ... but my 'true love' is the 28-70 if that makes sense.

I have a wide variety (more than I should, I'm sure... lol) 8.

RF: 16mm 2.8, 35 1.8, 50mm 1.8, 70-200mm 2.8, (lensbaby) 35mm 2.8 burnside

EF: (sigma) 14-24mm 2.8, (tamron) 24-70mm 2.8, (Canon) 400mm 2.8 (non-is), 2x TC, (Sigma) 150-600mm 5.6-6.3

It is on my list to transition my EF glass to RF versions but that's a lot of money...

RF: 100-500L, 24-105L, 100L macro, 35, Samyang 14
EF: 85, 70-200 f/4L, Sigma 50 f1.4
I transitioned my EF Sigma 24-105 and Canon 100 to RF within the past year, and my old EF 20 to the Samyang. I’ll probably keep the Sigma 50 forever - I love the look the lens gives me.

RF-S 18-150, EF 100-400, EF 8-15, EF 24-105, Tamron 90 macro. If I can get the special price on the RF 100-400 I will certainly add that

I like to travel light and to keep it simple;

RF 800 f11 - for bird captures, 75% of my photography is with this lens
RF 24-105 f4 L - for general purpose and sightseeing/travel
RF 85 f2 macro - for portrait and macro
NiSi 15 F4 - for wide-angle and abstract. The manual lens seems a strange choice, but its beautifully made, does lovely sun stars, is good value and Dustin Abbott likes it!
