While blowing dust off the rear lens of my new RF 24-105mm F4 L, I noticed a tiny speck that wouldn't come off. I tried cleaning it with lens cleaning fluid and lens cleaning paper, but it wouldn't come off. It's just a tiny, tiny speck (I used a magnifying glass to see more easily) and probably doesn't affect image quality, but....

Should I bother trying to take it in for a replacement? Is Canon easy to deal with regarding these types of warranty claims?

If it is under warrantee and there is definitely no way it was caused after sale I would ask for a replacement However, if it is possible normal use caused it, don't worry; it will not cause image issues.

Thanks. I'm going to take it in to the shop I bought it at today to see if they'll deal with the return for free. Canon won't reimburse for shipping if I send it directly from my place. I wonder how long I'll be without that lens.

Assuming it is not covered by warranty I probably would not worry about it. I'm a CPS Gold member and recently found some tiny specs of fungus forming on the inside of the rear element of my EF 85mm f/1.2 lens. I've had the lens for 10 years or so but as it is an expensive lens I sent it in and even with my CPS Gold discount it cost $350 to repair. Had it been just some dust I wouldn't have worried but fungus will only get worse over time.
