Ahead of an imminent extended trip in our camper van, some images from a visit (in June last year) to Kedleston Hall, Kedleston, Derbyshire, England.

(Shot raw and processed using: DxO PhotoLab Elite/ ViewPoint and Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop).

1. The current house was commissioned in 1759 by Nathaniel Curzon 1st Baron Scarsdale and designed by Robert Adam. (This is the south front aspect).

2. The Saloon rises 62 feet to the top of the dome (don’t forget to look up!).

3. The Library - the bookcases in which were also designed by Robert Adam.

4. The Drawing Room - the gilt settees by John Lindell date from around 1765.

5. The Music Room - the marble chimney piece is inlaid with Blue John.

Hi Mike,

I suspect that, even in the day, they only really used a small part of the building most of the time - the rest being for impressing guests. I believe the current members of the family still live in one wing (part of the 'deal' with the National Trust).

We can only scratch the surface and provide a taster when we post our selection of images.

We're hoping to include a few visits to historic buildings and houses in our forthcoming tour.
