I use RAW mode on my R100 and there's all sorts of EXIF data. But, I do not use one of the more sophisticated editing programs. I typically use a software called IrfanView, which lets me crop, resize, and do some color adjustment when needed. However, after it creates a JPEG image the data about the lens, etc. is no longer part of the image.

Any suggestions aside from switching editors? I'd like to do the contests, etc.

I’m not aware of this editor but it sounds like exif data should be preserved providing you save the images as .jpg

Easiest way around this is to shoot raw + jpeg, edit the jpeg file in Irfanview with the raw file as backup for more difficult pics.
Or, download the free DPP from Canon, and convert your raw file to jpeg before moving into Irfanview. It does a great job on jpegs, and saves the exif info.
Long time Irfanview user.
PS - welcome to the gang.

I use Irfanview as my main 'quick spin through' program when racing - only with jpegs, most editing is done in LR and all exif data is kept - just tried to open / edit and save a raw file and no exif is kept at all. As suggested above - if your editing raw files use your free DPP software for Canon which will give you a LOT more editing options and your exif will be intact.
