One day shooting at the beach I couldn't get my Laowa 12mm fisheye lens to operate on the camera. It's a manual aperture lens; no auto anything. Turns out that to use such lenses you have to change a menu item to allow the camera to shoot w/o a lens on. Huh? Why would you ever want to do that you may ask. I did. But I digress. The menu item is in the Custom Functions menu (6th menu), tab 4, "Release shutter w/o lens". Here's a quick vid tute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcRSrbyyynE

I use a few takumars as well and needed this option enabled. Agree it's strange but I guess we have to roll with it.

In Digiscoping, with camera attached to a spotting scope with a special adapter, the “shoot without lens on” is necessary in order to “see” through the scope. It’s just that you aren’t using a lens that the camera recognizes.

This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
