I know the lens has been discontinued, but has anyone used in on a R-series camera (w/adapter, of course)?

I use this superb lens on the R5 and the results are truly impressive.
The 5x magnification is insanely detailed straight out of the camera, but everything has to be rock steady as the slightest vibration will ruin the shot.
For example if you have a timber floor, stand still when you take the shot because if you shift your weight and the flooring deflects slightly, it will show up in the image.
I use mine on a Manfrotto Sliding Rail for stability.
You need good lighting too as to achieve 5x magnification the subject can only be 41mm from the lens.
For 1x macro the subject distance is 101mm from the lens, so it is a different style of getting your shot.
The results are well worth the extra effort though.

I have! It works well, there's really nothing to go wrong. You don't focus it with a ring, you move the camera forward and back until the object in question is in focus. I will try to find a few images I have with it and post them.

This was with my R5 a few years back. It doesn't get much use since I hurt my elbow. It's heavy and I have to use a tripod.

I have the lens and adapter, but haven't tried it on an RF body. The MPE goes to 5x, but when hand-held, I can only manage it to around 2x. The RF 100mm macro goes to 1.4x and that is close enough to 2x that I use it instead. The 100mm is more convenient because it has AF and IS, and I have a better diffuser for it.

For work in the macro studio, I would prefer the MPE 65, but I haven't done this kind of work for a while.
