I'm contemplating buying a flash, or flashes, for my R5. I recently saw an article or note indicating there was a new problem, perhaps after a firmware update, with non-Canon flash units not providing the full range of capabilities on R bodies. Is that real or am I imagining things? I can' find my way back to whatever I read (really skimmed). As nice as it would be to go all Canon, the Godox prices do look attractive.

Have just recently purhased the R5, have updated to latest firmware version 1.4.0 and have photographed my 6D and few accessories to sell using a two non Canon flashes, Yongnuo YN600EX-RT speedlights and YN-E3-RT wireless Transmitter in ETTL and manual mode without any issues.
