The amount of logistical pre-planning and set up required to capture that split second that lives forever (or just for a day) can be astounding.

For many racing events the person you see with 3 cameras (one on a monopod and two around their neck) likely has multiple remotes for triggering cameras elsewhere. You'd never think it, but one of the most taxing events for a manufacturer is something like the Kentucky Derby, or the Belmont if it's for a Triple Crown. The amount of gear that gets borrowed for the event by the pros covering it is astounding, with most of it being remote bodies and lenses. I was with someone from CPS on the day of the Preakness once when they got a text and simply said, "Thank god". When I asked what happened they simply said, "There won't be a Triple Crown winner this year so I don't have to go to the Belmont". LOL
