I think I saw in passing a reference to prog rock in one or two of your posts. Dunno if you're aware, but as part of the Beeb's "Proms" this year there is

"Prog rock at the proms"

Hi Roy,

We’re obliged for the link. Our current (and recommended) prog favourites are: Haken, Between the Buried and Me, Periphery, The Dear Hunter, IHLO, Opeth (plus a mention for recent finds Nospūn). We fear non of these will be appearing on the show. (We are partial to Genesis).

(Fair Warning: Your grandparents won’t like these, your parents won’t like these, your kids won’t like these - you probably won’t like these).

:)

You might be surprised to see what is on the CD racks here.

There is some (quite a lot of) compatability with what I have and what one of my progeny has. Less 'traditional' - Tool, Frost*, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theatre, Disturbed, IQ, Muse, Sonata Arctica. Older - The Nice, King Crimson, Moody Blues. Plus a mix of other stuff e.g. Rammstein, Motorhead, Prodigy - and more (including classical - I used to be in two orchestras as a yoof).

That image on the Haken track is a little disturbing. Perhaps I have the head? :)

Hi Roy,

Definitely plenty of commonality in our prog interests - Tool, Frost*, PT/ anything by Mr Wilson, DT, Muse.

(You may even like to hear some of Me).

You may be onto something regarding the head...
