Briefly....If you are wondering how this lens will work with an R7 let me put the issue at rest. It works very well.

I was worried a bit about soft edges after reading and watching some reviews about the 16mm and the 18-150mm
On the R7 1.8 is very sharp at the center and slightly soft edges (compares quite favorably to my EF 100mm 2.8L IS USM Macro.
Really after 2.8 the only thing that changes is depth of field and slightly better corner sharpness. From 2.8 to 8 the corner sharpness is good with center sharpness excellent. Diffraction starts to kick in at F11, but still pretty good. Crop factor lens usability is 38mm.

My plan is to use this as both a walk around lens only and a companion lens for my bigger lenses when I go out birding. Keeping a light pack.

I still prefer my 5D4 and 24-70 4L IS USM whenI strictly am on a landscaping adventure. For now anyway.

A couple quick pics, but a light, nice looking, very solid lens that I highly recommend. An RF lens on an R camera is a very enjoyable experience.

I will post a detailed review after I get a lens hood and can give it a real workout.

My only knock on that setup is that it’s absolutely massive compared to the M6II and EF-M 22mm f/2. My wife will never convert to RF unless they make something virtually identical to the M6II and her beloved 32mm f/1.4.

0.81 lbs heavier.

It's all relative isn't it? I'm going from a heavy to light system and your wife from a lighter to heavier system.
I never did try or have an M model. The RF24 is a bit beefier and heavier than I thought it would be. It is a little front heavy, but from what I am used to, it is a dream for walking around with. Just got a JJC lens Hood in the mail today and it fits it beautifully. $35 less than canon.
