Just received my R5 this week along with two lenses (14 - 35 f4 L & 24 - 105 f4 L). Booked a trip in April to shoot songbirds from a blind and will be about 20 - 30 feet from the birds. Last month I was there I used my 5D IV and a Sigma 150 - 600 lens with great results. My shots ranged from 400 - 600 mm. The question is would you suggest springing for the adapter and using the 150 - 600 again or splurge for the RF 100 - 500. Budget is not a big concern and I know that I will eventually be getting this lens. More interested in the quality perspective. Thank you.

It arrives tomorrow!
Oh, happy news!

Your new 100–500mm will work superbly with your R5 (especially so after next month's firmware upgrade?).

Stlhawk, like you, I have the R5 plus the f/4 14–35mm and 24–105mm lenses. They're good travelling companions—weather sealed and optically outstanding, but compact.
