Well lending camera ole faithful RP to daughter going to Japan and kit 24/105 and nifty 50mm hmmm never gonna see that again.

So went hunting second hand stumbled across R5 body only.

Aware of scammers but seemed ridgey didge I thought, cash or bank transfer no postage will not sell without buyer viewing using at my house.

Sent Facebook message responded with his mobile number.

Ok was in big smoke so went for a look and was roughly right dollars.

Entered his house general chit chat he was a real estate photographer also runs photographic tours in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

OK I thought. Will get camera he said follow me. Err like the pearly gates....

Two humidity controlled camera cabinets which house 2 R1 and 2 R5ii and 2 5d iv

Vast array of lenses ya wanna see my pride and joy lenses he said my mind thought Rf 100/300 2.8 but whoa it was the Rf 800mm 5.6 gigantic.

He probably had the 100/300 somewhere lol.

He was a skydiving photographer for a few years as well. Real interesting guy. Employs 5 people either doing real estate or going on safaris.

Suffice to say I didn't try to beat him down on price.

Any trouble or not happy in a month will refund money in full he said.

Here's the kicker didn't really go into it but in general conversation "ya know if not for pre capture R5 mark 1 is a better camera" "just my opinion he said"

He upgrades bodys every cycle but has 5ds as emergency on safari if somebodies camera dies on tour.

So long and short of it now R6 R6ii and a R5 daughter coming to get RP on weekend like saying good bye to a ole knockabout friend

Oh other chit chat editing.

Stage one runs through Dxo Photolab for optical corrections and denoising ALWAYS first be it wildlife realestate or landscapes then stage two final finicky editing done in LR again always.

Did wonder if he might have a Hasselblad lurking somewhere he just has for kicks ;) :)

Cool story. You should offer to help keep his gear "limber" by using it for a few days each week, just to save him the time of having to do it hisself....and free of charge of course....because you are a nice guy and all.... :D :geek:

I checked out the RF800 5.6 out of curiosity on price:eek: but noticed something quite extraordinary about that lens. It has a minimum focus distance of 2.60m which is amazing.

I sent him some of my lightning pics to show him I was true blue.

He messaged this, I am happy r5 has gone to a good home

Anyway looking forward to using R5

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
