I jest, but my Z8 has developed a very faint circular spot at the 0600 position. Its only seen when taking pics of a solid bright background (ie. blue sky), not in any other conditions. So I'm ignoring it for now but it still just bugs me knowing that its there...

This is precisely why I refuse to point my camera at a sunny, blue sky and take a photo at f22-32 or something. I don't want to see what I normally don't see. For the same reason, I don't want to see ghosts....

That is only the one you can see. Here is the RAW saved as JPEG of the same photo. Now if this wasn't of clouds and not shot at f/22 would even those spots be visible?


Try this:
AV (A) mode, prime lens, smallest aperture, lowest ISO. Photograph something like a solid overcast sky or something white. Import into Lightroom and move the Dehaze slider to 100%.

Try this:

So I posted my pic in the 'Non-Canon' forum (I didn't want to risk the wrath of Sir Tim and get voted off the island)....

Extensive huffing and puffing with the air squeegy thingy has not helped. Dot is still there and it has invited a few friends.

I have yet to see the sensor in my R5m2, and I am hopeful that I never shall.

Sensor cleaning and closing the shutter curtain are programmed for whenever the camera is turned off.

If I never see the camera’s sensor, because it is hidden when I change lenses, then neither will dust! Yes, I realise that my ‘logic’ isn’t 100% foolproof, but it is very close!

I get cameras cleaned about every 12/15 months storm chaser farmer severe weather dust storms etc last time the guy said "fark mate you got half your farm in these" ps im a 3 camera guy now lenses basically dont get changed ever or taken off dust gets in some how

I follow your method. Sensor never (or rarely) gets exposed to the environment. I look after my lenses too, and never have to clean them.

Still, my R5 and R7 have picked up some dust spots. A rocket blower has removed most of them. I don't want to do a wet clean.

I have to agree - I'm edgy about wet cleaning a sensor so I keep my lenses clean and minimize exposure when changing them. I've also found that a Rocket blower works wonderfully.
