It it about time!

A couple years ago I had Amazon drop-off "signature-required" camera gear without anyone signing, sure the lens was only $2899.00 but how could I prove it wasn't delivered?

...now all they have to do is follow through with requesting the code

I'm glad to see they are implementing some additional security measures, but I doubt I'll need it.

AMZN is on my chit-list for expensive merchandise...

1) They don't follow delivery instructions or read labels (both of which say to leave the box at the front door). 50% of the time they leave it in front of the garage door because they are too lazy to walk another 25 feet. Yes, I have gotten in the car, opened the garage door and crushed a box they left there. Yes, I used more colorful language on that day then pretty much any other. 🤬

2) When they do make it to the front porch, they leave it on the lower step right in the middle. Gee, too bad if it rains. Also, why not just post a sign that says 'steal me'? (n)

3) When a signature is required, they have a habit of calling me when they still over an hour away (to see if I am home). Since I screen calls, I'm not picking up unless it says 'Amazon'. Which it doesn't. So they drive right past my house.... Twice I've had to chase them down to get my box.

4) They couldn't properly wrap expensive/fragile gear to save their azz. It's almost always placed in a box that's too large. And their idea of protective wrapping is a single sheet of Kleenex. 👿

From this point on all my lenses and gear will be from B&H or from my local shop. AMZN can kiss my tuchas.

(LOL, why look at me! I'm well on my way to becoming a curmudgeon! 🤣 )

Hey Curmudgeon Craig (AKA: @THXGEEK) The property we have is in a complex of Attached Homes (think Condos, but you own the land).

There is a community driveway and each unit has a separate driveway and garage. We have an always opened gate at the front of the garage and a walkway to the front door. Every deliver service has placed the package at the (covered) front door. Must be the friendly neighborhood.

Oh, and the lens came with the old-style cap.

Actually Amakzon has had that in place since 2022.

First time for me. Perhaps it is region oriented as my driver seemed confused for a moment about the one-time password. I image locations like California and New York needed it ASAP.
