  1. Yes
I've been wanting an R5 for a couple years, but have been holding off until the new model arrives. Rumor says that will probably be 2024. If so, I'm all in.

According to Canon Rumors: CR1 – The source is probably a 4 legged animal of some kind.

I trust rumor sites about as much as I do gas station sushi and politician promises.

Aren’t there already two models - R5 and R5C? I think having a photo model that does video and a video model that does photo makes more sense today.

So an R5 MkII and a R5C Mk II. I think there is low market appeal for a high (100mps) camera these days unless you are a landscape photographer and print big. Even so, I can Gigapixel a 45mps file to 90mps with no loss in quality.

Well, when you put it that way, yeah, I have no desire for a 100MP camera. If that’s Canon’s plan, I hope they do have another offering in the 45-60 range. I’m more than happy with the results of the current R5 at 45MP so I’m hoping Canon doesn’t engage in the MP race beyond 60 with the R5, but the marketing department probably doesn’t share that opinion.

They can introduce anything, but I'm staying put. I'm nowhere near the limits of my R5 so no need to "upgrade."

Canon could do like Nikon. Release the flagship R1 and then make a mini R1 and call it the R2.
That would basically be your hi-rez R5, and go head to head against the Nikon Z8.

The current R5 is the equivalent to the Nikon Z8.
Yeah, sure seems like Nikon was aiming at the R5 when they spec'd the Z8. Can't go wrong with either one. Being a luddite, I'm not sure I'd want a camera without a mechanical shutter. Seems to work better for action (IMO).
