What Photography Related Item Have You Bought or Sold This Week?

Bought a Godoz V1 round flash. Not sure why because I can't remember when I last used a flash. Probably because the round flash took my fancy having not used that style before. Now to actually use the thing, lol.

I basically only use my flash for macro photography. Occasionally I will use it for selling something on ebay...like my old flash.

I've been on a binge lately.

  • two action cameras, a DJI Action 3 and an SJCam SJ11
  • a Film Devices magnetic car mount kit (for the amazing price of $110)
  • a used Lensbaby Composer Pro with Sweet 35 optic from MPB
The SJ11 was half the price of the Action 3, and both produce quality video with excellent stabilization. The DJI has better features, including some voice control commands, but I think the SJ11 is the better value.

The magnet kit is capable of mounting my Canon R7 inside the car (I haven't tried it with the R5M2 yet), and I can easily mount the action cams inside or out, on any window or even on the roof/hood. It appears that I got one of the last kits from Barn Door in Connecticut, because they're sold out now. I had previously purchased a Delkin Fat Gecko dual-suction mount, but the magnets are MUCH easier to move around. Retail for the kit is around $400. I searched the interwebs for weeks, but couldn't justify that price, and then stumbled on the Barn Door outlet. It's possible to piece together a kit from Amazon, but the Film Devices kit is complete and the magnets are superior because they have multiple 1/4" and 3/8" mounting points. I was lucky to find it.

I just bought myself an RF 100-500 also.

This is the 2nd to last of the RF lenses that I have been wanting. The only one left is the 85 f/1.2. Going to be a while before I can afford that one.

Now the question is if you are going to mount your R5M2 to the outside of your car and drive with it? I don't care how strong the magnet is, I just don't think I could do it. I guess I am not brave enough....but one of my first managers in the early 90's once told me that there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. A line that I have crossed many times in my life. :ROFLMAO:

Thank you Santa.

Congratulations! You must have ranked high on the "nice" list this year!

This is quite a popular thread on the Sony forum that I run so hopefully it will be popular here too (thanks Brownie!).

Simply post any purchases or sales/trades of photo gear. This could be anything from a filter to a new computer purchased for editing. Software, accessories, and of course bodies and lenses!

I've been fairly good recently and have resisted my GAS urge. My last purchase was a pair of Vallerret Tinden Photography Gloves to keep my hands nice and toasty during our colder snaps. They definitely did the trick although they are a little bulky which I found made it difficult to get a good grip on my R5 with the 100-500 attached as there is very little room between the lens and grip. Hopefully heading into April I won't be needing them for a while now!

First an Snipiz Lens Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, then a Neweer 77" tripod, and also a Canon RF 16 mm lens. It's going to be a nice Christmas.

I purchased a Weyllan LH7 Leveling Base for my tripod. I had a leveling base that had a single screw knob with which to lock the base into position. It worked well, but I always felt like I was going to break the locking knob to get it tight enough. The Weyllan is much better and I can definitely recommend it. I have tested it with my adapted 70-200 f2.8II/gripped EOS R combination and it holds its position without any problem at all. It is easy to lock into position and to unlock. It is also easy to just partially unlock it leaving enough friction to prevent the rig from flopping over.
