Welcome to our Canon RF Shooters Forum

we eliminated the lawn many years ago.

My dream. We have 2.5 acres of garden, too much of it grass. Even with a nifty ride-on mower, it takes far too long to mow - but on the upside, I do get to listen to lots of podcasts...

One of my garden birds: it appreciates a small acknowledgment of its presence — a handful of birdseed will do — but it'll stand quietly on a decaying fallen branch it there's nothing to peck on offer

Thank you for sharing this visually stunning collection of images.
Hi Walter,

We're not sure which post you're replying too - but we accept your very welcome feedback on behalf of the entire thread (a great month already!)... 🙂

These images were processed with heavy doses of DXO Photolab 9 Smart Lighting and ClearView Plus to remedy the harsh midday sun and hazy sky.

The Anthony Mills, built in 1873 in the Italianate architectural style, was the largest building in Rhode Island at that time. It produced textiles including narrow fabric, using Italian knitting machines and Italian and American needle looms. In 2012, the main mill was renovated into luxury loft apartments.

Hi Walter,

A striking collection of images showcasing some very impressive industrial architecture with a rich and fascinating history.

All well seen, caught and presented - thank you for sharing... 🙂

This is a barn down the road a piece at the base of Mt. Si. I shoot a lot of pictures of it. It takes the evening light well this time of year.

Hi Ken,

A spellbinding image.

Beautifully captured and presented - wonderful light and the perfect sky - thank you for sharing... 🙂

I will share a few more photographs from the wild roses down the street and some from our backyard. Wild roses are considered a "weed" along with the Japanese Knotweed. They share the same wild area a couple of hundred feet from our house. To me, they are far more delightful than weeds, mainly because I am not fighting them in my backyard! Aside from that, the abundance of the rose blossoms, buds, and the aroma (although weaker this year) are highly enjoyable to experience and photograph.

In our front and backyard, we eliminated the lawn many years ago. Instead, we have flower beds and a large patio area. Our eclectic collection of plants are the result of years of accumulation, from bearded irises to yucca plants.View attachment 46483View attachment 46482View attachment 46485View attachment 46484
Hi Cemal,

A wealth of interest and beauty for the viewer to explore and admire.

So anyway, yesterday ( 😮 ) we visited the Yorkshire Wildlife Park for a special Gold Members event where they introduced us to the four cheetah cubs.

I think it's fair to say they were quite pleased to see us... 😀

P&K

[Due warning - our hopes of 'catching a glimpse of the cubs' resulted in 3,086 raw files, so you may be seeing a couple shots more from this visit... 🙂 ].

Welcome to Yorkshire! (What a little cutie)...

I really like this one.

Hi Only RF,

It was a really fun session - we were in the first group (of around 30 people - lots of cameras in evidence!) led down to an area right next to the cheetah enclosure which is normally out of bounds and we had 30 minutes to watch and photograph them through the single mesh fencing while the staff gave us some inside info. All four were out with their mother ('Darcy') taking it in turns to give us their entry for the cutie of the month contest. This was the first time they'd seen visitors in this area and so close to them - and it was also the first time they'd been fed outside of their pen. It hugely enjoyable.

I'm still working through the first weeding session for our files (without any desire to brag, I'm chucking stuff away some people would put on their walls).

🙂

I was referring to the images from Witley Court and Great Witley Parish Church, Great Witley, Worcestershire, England. But, every image you post is a visual treat and inspires me to do better.

Day trip to the Northumberland coast with the local camera club yesterday. Goal was to get a postcard style landscape shot. Pleased with the shot of Bamburgh Castle, despite it being a cliche shot. Snapped a few common eiders as well.

Without reading your post my immediate thought was... That looks like an old post card. Cliche shots are what draw people with cameras to locations in the first place.

Great job.

Hi Walter,

Thank you for your very kind words - it's always pleasing when you discover people have enjoyed seeing your images, but to hear they have been inspired by them is very rewarding (and humbling) and helps to make the (little bit of) extra effort involving in actively hosting this forum worthwhile.

We've got some interesting images lined up, which we hope people will find pleasure and value in - watch this space... 🙂

Hi Mike,

A wonderful image/ postcard-esque treatment of the utterly splendid Bamburgh Castle (we must get back up there for a reprise visit).

(And what a bunch of local cuties too!).

Great stuff - thank you for sharing... 🙂

I suppose that's one "interpretation".

Did you check out whether you could get them to purr?
Hi Roy,

The cubs exhibited a wonderful mix of curiosity, stage shyness - and bravado. We did get a few 'growls' (high pitched chirps - very much like birds).

The event was due to be held a few weeks back but was cancelled after one of the cubs allegedly demonstrated the ability to get over the gate into an adjoining area of the enclosure. Some security amendments were duly made... 🙂

Mike,
“despite it being a cliche shot”

Cliche or not, it’s a great photo.

Looking at yours and Karen’s photos are one of the high points of my day.

Also, post more kitty cat pics, big and little.
