Thread 'Meme that made me laugh'
This popped up on my farcebook timeline and made me laugh again - just SO true
Merci
Thread 'Two questions I used to know the answers to :)'
Hi folks, Brain fog tonight. What does THIS do? AND, I swear I recall there was a faster way to change shooting modes rather than the Mode button which i find inconvenient and withoiut mapping MfN to change those modes. Am I imagining that one? Thanks.
To accompany an R100 with 18-45 lens for a new camera user doing A level photography what lens would people choose on a budget .... RF 50 f1.8 or RF-S 55-210 ? My initial thought was the 50 as it will give shallow dof and work better in low light where the kit lens won't ... but then wondered re the 55-210 to compliment the smaller zoom as that is offered as a second lens with the R50 but not the R100. The user though having done GCSE has no idea of shutter speeds / aperture or ISO as...
If I need printing of any sort go to a printing shop. But occasionally you see change of model run out prices on professional printers 40% off etc. Guess if you owned one you may use ut
Posting this just in case others get this same behavior. I was attempting to update my R5II to firmware 1.02. I copied the firmware to the CF Express card and had the SD card in the camera. The camera kept reporting that the firmware file on the card was older than the installed firmware (1.01). Spoke to Canon CPS who provided the solution of removing the SD card while updating the firmware. The rep said always remove the card not being used when updating the firmware. I've never had to...
Do you have any thoughts on Canon's new announcement? For $120, they will upgrade the R7, R10 and R50 so it can overlay four different cropping guides in the viewfinder. Separately, I'm planning to sell my R7 (possibly for the R8) and I wonder if it would fetch a premium if I sent it in for the upgrade. https://www.usa.canon.com/buying-guides/cropping-guide

Thread 'Help understanding auto focus'
Hello Group, finally had some time to play with the R8 using a 100-400 canon lens. Having troubles understanding the auto focus area in automatic mode, I have taken 2 pictures both at the same objects, the one on the left is manually focused onto the large tree center frame, the second picture is fully auto focus and it will not pickup the same tree, only the branches in front of the tree. Is there a way to manually set the auto focus to center frame permanently or is the only way to achieve...
On the one hand, I am happy that there are so many creative and talented people in the world. On the other, I’m sad because I am not one of them.
Thread 'What to do with this?'
There's an abandoned grader nearby, that caught my eye. I'm not really sure why, so I took a bunch of "test" shots to play with. I tried a bunch of edits, threw some Neo presets at it...and still don't know if there's really anything "there". The "hurling excrement at the wall and seeing what sticks" approach didn't work, so lets see what you think. First up, an "unsullied" view: One thing that caught my eye was the Fox grape growing out of the window (or at least where the window used to...
I found this article about Street Photography and while I understand the author hesitations I see Street Photography as a powerful way to visually document the daily lives of everyday people. I think that the author of the article is just too shy and worry when he is taking pictures of strangers. He virtually is not enjoying the process. And I understand that. Street photography is not for everyone. In another hand, when you are in a city like New York where you see photographers in every...
I was visiting a Photography Forum elsewhere and I read a comment a user posted about not liking Pre-Capture because they do not like AI. Isn't pre-capture just a better version of 'Spray and Pray' or pulling an image from a video...am I missing something here?
Paired with the R7. This tiny lens is pure joy to use. With decent light you can produce quality photos. I turned the control ring to control F-stops. On APSC, you don't want too Push more than 6.3. Yes there a limitation on this lens. No built in IS. No problem with the R7. I wish sigma would have made the wide end 10mm. The R7 gets very noisy in very low light. If you are thinking of buying the little lens. You won't be disappointed. Yes I have the R5 also. Both are a joy to craft...
A Digital asset management system with AI culling?? Not really a editor as such been hammered with a few ads had a quick glance.
…or on safari in Africa! Let’s see some of the Youtube hotshots come here and get good photos between November and April, when the sky is always one giant 18% gray card, the foliage is dead and the birds and animals have hibernated or migrated.
Thread 'RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM'
Although this f/1.8 is a good lens at f/2.8 for astrophotography, don't forget to use it for street photography as well. R5 w/24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM f/4.5 ~ 1/80 ~ ISO 50 ~ 24mm
I was reading about the R5 MK I and noted that the crop function reduced the pixel count to around 17mp in the image. The R5 MK II has a higher overall pixel count at 45mp. Can anyone tell me what size a cropped image would be ( I am referring to the aspect ratio change outlined in the manual) ie: the 1.6 crop in camera making the sensor effectively an APS-C sensor .
