I had some spare time today and wandered down to my local wildlife watering hole (aka the 'suburban water retention pond'). After a vast expenditure of photons and electrons, I have a few pics that I deemed 'worthy' of processing and potential sharing with family, friends and community. Most of my pics basically really 'suck' for all of the reasons we all experience. Out of focus. Too much noise. Can't be cropped properly. It just isn't 'right'. And so on... So. My question is...

I’m just wondering how people determine their settings when they’re doing focus stacking. I’m sure it depends on what lens and what have stop etc. etc..
Android phone: is there a way to import on phone photos in RAW format instead of JPG using Camera Connect?
I am considering upgrading from my EOS R to a R6MkII and am interested in any thoughts from those of you that have either owned or used both. I really like my R, but wish to have better AF capabilities. I am also interested in image quality comparisons, and especially would be very interested if anyone did an comparisons between the two cameras where raw files of the same subject were created with the same lens. Other than that, any opinions would definitely be welcome and appreciated...
An extension of the PL9 thread. I've really have not figured out if upscaling or cropping is better for wildlife. This is strictly for web presentation. LrC now also offers Super Resolution. I tried it once but I'm still at an impasse between cropping and upscaling. Since I paid for Topaz Gigapixel I can re-install it. I think I tried it once. I only purchased it so I could get Photo AI v1 for free. Do I have lifetime updates for Giga? I know Topaz dropped lifetime updates for Sharpen and...
Bien Cordialement Joao
Thread 'LrC 14.5.1 released'
Not a major release but it fixes the catalogue issues. Well I guess more GPU accelerated items is a good update. Specific bug fixes. https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/lightroom-classic-14-5-1-is-now-available/td-p/15476347
I was shooting in Manual mode with face detection but when I switched to Auto ISO I no longer got the box for face detection ... using back button focus. What gives and how do I fix it?
Last fall I had posted asking about the RF 14-35 f/4 vs RF 15-35 f/2.8 thinking I was going to pull the trigger as a Christmas present to myself last year. Well, Christmas came and went but, due to some other unexpected expenses, I wasn’t able to buy anything at that time. Now, I still want to get a wide Zoom, but have decided the RF 15-35 f/2.8 is more than I want to spend. In the meantime, Canon now has the RF 16-28 f/2.8 as an option. From some of the reviews I’ve seen, this new lens...

102 in the shade in North Dakota the other day. Even the squirrels didn't like it.
Brian Matiash has very good and interesting video about this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxj6GKRsslc&t=2s The suggested order shown at 2:28. It seems like a bit of a pain but using icons themselves as tools helps. A few other things first. I don't use HDR so that is not included in my workflow. Since Lens Corrections are applied at import I decided to leave them enabled as I have not see any issues. Since LrC is a parametric developer some may find better performance while editing...
Thread 'Has anyone used the new "neural network" software Canon is pushing?'
I downloaded the newest version of DPP the other day to see if they exterminated the critter I previously asked about (the window minimizing when I was deleting images). (Good news, they did, but the command/delete command still doesn't work in Quick view even though it did before...) I got a notification popup asking if I wanted to download their new "neural processing" software, so I said "WTH" and did. Still not sure exactly what it's 'spoda do, because when I went to run it, I got...

Old photographers never die just lose focus
Storm season almost upon us here in south Australia if you can call it that infrequent and may not happen once went 18 months without a storm. Anyway daytime lighting question ISO could be set to low level in menu and may act as a "quasi" ND filter. Anyone used it? A full stop in theory or isn't it that simple? cheers lads lasses and convertibles
I've been using DPP for culling and been somewhat happy with it. Today, whenever I hit "Command-Delete" to nuke an image, it deletes it and minimizes the window! Needless to say, this gets tiresome when working my way through a burst. Also that command doesn't seem to work when in Quick View mode and I swear it did before.
Brushing up on my skills or lack thereof. Any of you guys shoot at f22 I rarely go above f13 if so f16 is it. Referring to day time storm photography in sometimes bright light trying to achieve longer shutter speeds. I always put on a 3 stop nd other "experts" tell me stop right down and get longer shutter speed that way. What do you gurus do
