Last Black Friday I snapped up a deal on an R10. I've been using it here and there with an adapted EF-S 15-85. That might be the greatest walking around lens ever, but no RF equivalent lens in the pipeline from what I can tell. That lens and the adapter kind of overwhelm that little R10. Since I bought the camera I've had my eye on a Sigma 18-50mm F2.8. It's kind of how I envisioned outfitting that camera. A little urban prowl kit. Finances finally allowed me to grab that Sigma and it came...
Whilst in camera store yesterday in big smoke idle chatter with another guy waiting. Fellow canon user and I "think" ive got his comment correct. Auto ISO which I use he said important that you have increments in menu set at one full stop not thirds it does crazy thing to images when at thirds. Told him I had no idea of the issue mines at full stop anyway. R5 its a issue he said not sure if r5i or R5ii Said I had a second hand R5i no issue and he sort of changed subject to oh never buy...
Following on from wrist thread So did kickstarter way back when for Coman Monopods. Finally arrived was worrying I got scammed. Hopefully so much easier for horse shows, at show on sunday a pro asked how the heck do you hold camera all day said dunno farmer strength I guess plus sore wrist tis a struggle. Anyway let ya know how I get on. A tester "leaked" to me eh you should get one of these whilst there cheap was 10 moths ago I think. Hassled them via email with bank statement screen...
This is a highly-rated monitor that has been replaced by a new model and is being discontinued by Dell. I bought a factory refurb unit for $300 from Dell last month, so of course B&H now has a new unit on sale for $360. The new updated model U2725QE has Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 120Hz refresh rate and retails for $710. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1699552-REG/dell_p2723qe_27_4k_ips_usb_c.html...
Due to current rebate quirks, I can get a brand new R5II kit from authorised retailers with the RF 24-70 f/2.8 rather than the usual 24-105 f/4 for nearly the same price or even cheaper. Given this unusual price situation and the habitual high price difference between the two, is there any reason to skip over such an offer? I am aware of the focal length versatility of the 24-105, particularly for walk about as I will be partially using it, but the 24-70 entices me for low light...
Rf 70/200 2.8 on R5 Does auto focus struggle on the vertical and indeed fail at times. Had issues at a horse show wasn’t noted on portrait
I've often wondered if there is a preferred or best way to create a B&W image - in-camera versus post processing. Admittedly, I've only tried PP conversions which leaves me with both a color and B&W image which is great. Clearly color conversion is dependent upon the algorithm used and should vary accordingly, but does in-camera B&W provide any advantage to the image itself?
Anyone use them? Any advantages or disadvantages Am I correct they maybe slower?
I took part in a small art contest/exhibit yesterday. In amongst the oils, acrylics, watercolors and mixed media, it was only myself and three other photographers. Nothing was said or done to make me think so, but I couldn’t help shake the feeling that, in “art” circles, photography is viewed as a bit of a redheaded stepchild - like it’s not “real” art because we start with what’s there, not a blank canvas. Thoughts?
Thread 'New Firmware testing'
Ok so firmware 1.1.2 has been released for the R1, 'usually' I like to wait a few weeks before installing it but had time before my next race meeting so took the plunge and went for it! All shot hand held, image stabiliser off, Canon R1, RF 100-300 2.8 with 1.4 extender. The very first thing I did was to turn off password at start / wake, most stupid idea ever - your moving around trackside with the body asleep and you catch something out of the corner of your eye. . . pick camera up to...
Myself usually solo other than trusty hound. Enjoy serenity. But yesterday went to a waterfall with a mate from camera club really enjoyed it. Storm chasing again solo but cross paths with other guys Equine etc at shows other photographers but give each other space not much interaction.
I am contemplating moving into the Canon full frame system through either the R5 or R5II, and a kit 24-105 f/4 for either. The difference in price is around 1000 Euros. I have seen plenty of comparison analysis, and I would tilt towards the R5II because of the many improvements bar the high ISO/dynamic range, but one thing I am not yet clear on is how annoying the IBIS hiss or hum is on the R5II. The consensus seems to be that its quite noticeable and “worse” than the R5, but would...
A question has anyone looked at or played with canon Powershot. Wife's sort of looking for point and shoot. Apologies @Tim Mayo if not allowed
…backlit by the golden morning sun, covered with dew, top arching gracefully over. I looked for the best angle and composition. Then the dog ate it.
Quite crook on friday spent most of day in bed. Found quite a few new photographic forums unbeknown to me. Never underestimate quality and content and etiquette of this forum with a splash of humour. No repeating questions every 3 days "is 24 megapixel ok" no "are phones replacing cameras" no "what camera do I need" with no budget genre etc etc Presume boss mam @Tim Mayo is still here lurking keeps a low profile lately. Cheers all off to daughters engagement party in big smoke in a...
Thread 'MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro'
I know the lens has been discontinued, but has anyone used in on a R-series camera (w/adapter, of course)?
I was trying to take a few multiple exposure shots this morning. I wanted to use photos that were already on my camera as the first photo of a two shot exposure. It said I had no compatible pictures on the camera. Camera is set to 3:2 aspect and all HDR settings are turned off. Picture quality is JPEG large. I am using the RF S 18-150mm lens. What am I missing? I have done the latest update to 1.7.1. Am I going to have to reset camera (Basic settings and Other settings) Yellow menu, Page 6...
So I'm going to Hawaii with the wife for 9 days. We leave in a week, on the 24th. I have to go for work: have to attend a convention. I'm taking my R6 mkII (with battery grip). Planning to take my RF 24-70mm f/2.8, and my RF 70-200mm f/2.8, RF 16mm f/2.8 and one of my Sirui FF 1.6x Anamorphic lenses, probably the 35mm. (The other one I have for FF in RF mount is the 50mm). We'll be in Honolulu in the Waikiki area. We won't have much time to get out and see much of anything else due to my...
Who has done an IR or Full Spectrum conversion for their cameras? I have and RP that I'm thinking about sending to Kolari Vision for an IR or FS conversion. Since I have an R6mkII the RP gets left behind. Seems like it would be a good candidate for conversion. Did you find that it was worthwhile? Any tips or comments on the conversions?
This just dropped; Canon NZ page here. Full text: I got the notification from the Camera Connect app, and have used it to run the update. It seems to have gone smoothly. Camera restarts and requires you to enter a "password", but it seems more like a PIN, being numeric only. I'll report back after a play.
