Thread 'Waterfall Shots Are Boring and Cliched'
…that’s why I’m at a place with 22 of them. 😝 Fortunately for you most of what I’ve been able to get onto my ipad are off my drone, so you’ll be spared…for now.
1. Don't Panic! :) 2. Read this and be sure to take any action you deem necessary. (After following Adobe's instructions, I can confirm my existing 'banked/ stacked' licences continue to be shown as active/ valid until the correct expiry date). Phil
Good day, I just ordered Canon EOS R7, with 18-150 STM, and considering to buy the Sigma RF-S 18-50 2.8 as well. Later on might add EF-S 55-250 STM or the RF 100-400 STM. After checking this option against the R8 with RF 24-105 4-7.1 STM and RF 100-400 STM. I was tempted to go FF with R8, light weight body, although decided for R7 in the end. Mainly taking photos of landscapes, city trips, sometimes portraits and sports photography (car racing F1 or Hockey). Stepping up from Canon EOS80D...
Thread 'Depth Composting - DPP vs. Helicon'
Just goofing around and decided to try stacking the same set of images in both softwarez. First up is Helicon: Next is DPP As you can see, DPP did....ok, but there's a lot of weird halo-y stuff going on. There were some halos in the Helicon version but I was able to retouch them - which sort of isn't fair, but then again it is because DPP doesn't offer that functionality, which is a demerit for DPP. Also, DPP took two eternities and a couple forevers to stack, Helicon blew through the...
I watch a fair few tornado you tubes to see what latest is. Also setting up my R6 and R5. But boy getting hammered by R6iii R7ii R3ii and other day R4 videos ps don’t watch but saturation point point almost. Cameras will come out in there own good time but people must watch otherwise they wouldn’t post.
I video my son's basketball games in 4K 60p IPB to the internal memory cards. I use a Ulanzi fan mounted to the back of the camera when the LCD screen is folded out. Still have a tough time with the heat buildup. Curious if anyone here has specific experience using an external bettery pack and a dummy battery, if that helps with heat buildup. Thinking of trying this first, before offloading the video recording to something like an Atomos Ninja - that expense is quite large. I already...
I belong to Portland Photographers Forum and there is a monthly challenge where each member can submit up to five photographs to share. The May challenge was Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) / Multiple Exposure. There are great photographs from some outstanding photographers. Watch the video here if it interests you. I know for certain that at least one set of images was using RF glass.
Hello, has anyone had direct experience attaching a replacement foot on the Canon RF600mm F4 L IS USM and mounting it on a Wimberley WH-200 II gimbal head attached to a tripod? So far, I have tried feet from two different companies that were marketed to be compatible with the RF (and EF) 600mm f/4 lens. While both feet attach properly to the lens, the problem is that the lens cannot achieve balance on the gimbal because the foot is too short. To achieve balance, the foot needs to slide...
I wasn't sure whether to add this to an existing thread or start a new one. People ask about LrC performance and I and others have the standard set of "did you try this" set of questions. There is also that very helpful article by Adobe about how to maximize performance on both LrC and PS. Something I once may known but forgot about it. I can't member the last time I've seen any mention of it on any forums. If you have all of your presets open and scroll over them LrC will create a Preview...
Ever notice that some photographers, who call themselves Pro, usually are not. You can pick them out by the amount of gear they carry with them. Like super telephoto lens, for a portrait shoot, or every accessory known, which they never use, which are packed in soon to explode backpack. They never take into account the weight of the load, and can't figure out why their back and legs suddenly hurt. Be smart, take what you need, not what looks cool.
I'd like to get an external microphone for use with my Canon R6 Mark II for recording video of football ("soccer") matches. My understanding is that many external (shotgun) microphones are mainly limited to recording audio directly in front of the camera and so might not be well suited for recording a sports event where the players on the field are a bit further from the camera. Anyone have experience with external microphones that would be well suited for recording audio during the video...
Hello guys, Is it possible to take pictures and video with a camera monitor at the same time? I have a Canon R6 Mark II. Thanks
Thread 'Review - Using iMac as a monitor with Luna Display'
I was not sure if this is the right forum. I decided to get a Mac Mini M4 but I didn't want to spend the money on Apples Display. I may look into a 3rd party monitor in the late fall. I looked at several options and decided to try Luna Display which arrived yesterday. https://astropad.com/product/lunadisplay/ You need a second monitor to set up things up so I used a very old 42" TV which I keep around as a back up. I connected it to the mini by HDMI. It takes a bit...
Thread 'Bracket - What Am I Looking For?'
I have a new Canon RF100-400mm lens with my R100 body. The lens does not have a tripod mount, and when I use the mount on the camera body with my simple tripod, the lens's weight makes the combination very unbalanced. The weight of the lens wants to pull the camera forward and tilt it down. Here is a crude sketch of a bracket that would effectively shift the balance point forward. My searches have turned up nothing so I am thinking what I refer to as a balancing bracket is not the correct...

Thread 'Why does Canon go cheap sometimes on parts?'
I noticed the EVF eyecup on my R7 was torn. I wasn't sure how that might have happened and I've never had it happen with the many Canon bodies I have owned. Looked online for parts to avoid sending it to Canon. Turns out it's quite a problem with lots of R7 owners complaining about how flimsy the silicone rubber is. My tear was relatively minor compared to images of some where the rubber was 50% torn off. I decided to go with one that seems popular on Amazon made by JCC and under the name...
Thread 'I feel dirty....'
...I swapped a sky. :( In my defense though, it was just dull, white overcast and huge distraction.
Hello, how do you use the canon app in areas where there is no signal, you can't use the location, if I shorten it in caves? Is it even possible to use the app in such cases?
Thread 'That's it....I'm done...'
For all intensive porpoises, I shoot from the hip. I may pick out a place to go and have a general idea what I want to shoot, but it's really just a suggestion. I almost never plan stuff. Now I know why. The first one was a little shed that had been behind a nearby house for 25+ years. It was all covered in vines and looked like some sort of Hobbit house. I went and took a few shots, just to play with. Since I shot them through the windshield of my truck, they were all soft. I decided to...
