Thread 'What Were They Thinking? The Silent Drama of Sports Faces'
One of the things that fascinates me most when photographing sports is the look on athletes’ faces just before they perform—or immediately after. There’s a quiet intensity in those moments, a story unfolding in their expressions. Unfortunately, no camera can capture what’s going on inside their minds. All we have is the image—and the lingering question of what they might have been thinking in that split second. That’s part of what makes sports photography so compelling. It’s not just about...
What is the best camera to take pictures from far distance
I got my R6 MKII back 8 days ago on Friday afternoon. I had mentioned in the previous thread on this camera how it kept firing even after I released the shutter button. I didn't have time to do much on Friday evening, other then reset all the menus and customize the buttons the way I like them to be. Saturday morning I went to shoot my grandson's soccer match and within the first few bursts of images the camera took off and fired another 15 images on it's own. It did this throughout the...

Thread 'Doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy feeling about your cameras, Sony…'
A friend was looking at the X100VI. Since he’s got the proverbial snowball’s chance of getting one, I was looking for similar cameras to suggest. Apparently Sony can’t even master proofreading their website…🙄
Thread 'This is my month'
For the third year in a row I won a spot in the local calendar contest. This year I hit the header page for the month of May. For the next 31 days my pic of Big Bird will be hanging on walls in the area. Not bad for an old man with bad eyes. :)
Thread 'RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z with 2x'
I used this lens as a 140-400mm almost exclusively on a recent non birding trip. My wife and I went to a resort in the Dominican Republic. Normally there is not much around at the resorts so I usually only take some short lenses. This time I decided to take the 70-200mm Z with the 2x and I was glad I did. There was a bit of birds on the resort and along the beach. I used the lens with the R1 and it did not miss a beat with the 2x extender. This made for a nice small incase I see anything...
Thread 'Adobe Updates...'
Relatively minor updates, bug fixes and 'performance enhancements' providing us with versions - PS 26.6, LrC 14.3 and Camera Raw 17.3. (LrC - 'Select Landscape AI' detects things like mountains, water, vegetation and architecture and creates individual masks for each feature). :) Phil
Hi there, I have been experimenting with the R6 m2 movie mode and various settings. In one of the EVF display settings I have the horizontal level display enabled and when prior to starting the movie recording the horizontal line (red/green tilt line) is successfully shown in the EVF, however when the recording begins the EVF clears and the horizontal level indicator is lost. Does anyone know how to keep the horizontal level indicator enabled/shown whilst actually recording? As far as I...
Good morning all. I am looking at purchasing this lens.... TAMRON (Canon) 16-300 mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Lens, as it would fit my requirements perfectly. Does anyone have or use this lens with a Canon EF-RF adapter, and if so does it work ok? All help appreciated. Cliff.
I'm confused by some of the lens descriptions on vendor sites. It's my understanding that the Canon RF-S series lenses are made for the APS-C cameras, and the focal lengths marked are what you get. If you choose an RF series lens for a camera such as my R100, the focal length marked on the lens should be multiplied by the crop factor of 1.6 to get the effective focal length. Some sites, B&H is one, state that a lens such as the RF-S55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM lens will effectively be an...
DxO PhotoLab 8.5 - including the new DeepPRIME 3 NR - is out, Release Notes Here. (On the debit side, this update restricts the use of FujiFilm camera/ film profiles to Fuji raw files - the same restrictions will apply to FilmPack. 'At the express request of Fujifilm, we have revised how the Fujifilm digital film renderings function in our software. These renderings now apply exclusively to RAF files from Fujifilm cameras and only correspond to the simulations available on those cameras')...

I would like to enter an image in the April challenge but do not know how to include the Exif data. My normal way of posting images is to copy the code from my flickr page and post it but that doesn't seem to include the data unless you click on the flickr link. I process images in LR/PS. Any advice is welcome.
Just before I hit the "buy button" and spend my hard-earned pension on an RF 1.4 converter! are HDEW cameras a trustworthy company? All advice helpfull. Cliff.
I have an R100 APS-C Crop Sensor camera and have been looking at options for a lens with macro capability. My interests are mostly landscapes and wildlife, and the macro aspect interests me because it provides a way to get better photos of some of the smaller things in our outdoor world. When I look at other RF series lenses, NOT RF-S lenses, you apply a crop factor of 1.6 to get the equivalent focal length. For example, I have an RF-28mm prime lens, which gives me pretty much a "nifty 50"...
I would like to share a new article on my site about developing a keyword hierarchy and using it to organize your Lightroom archive. https://www.keptlight.com/crafting-a-lightroom-keyword-hierarchy/ It was republished on PetaPixel site as well.
Please don’t degrade into political argument not into it will delete. Are tariffs gonna affect USA members of this forum for photographic equipment be it cameras sd cards tripods anything? Just wondering and presume no ramifications for rest of us, Australia for instance or should we be watching thing as 4 months time stuff maybe 15% more. I’ve basically got all I need camera lens wise but other fiddly stuff cards expensive enough as it is. And if mods choose to delete this I’ve got no...
Thread 'Have you ever tried ChatGPT to critique your own photo?'
I entered “Analyze image and include style” and was returned with: The image you uploaded is a black-and-white photograph with a dramatic, noir-inspired style. Here are some key elements of the image: Analysis of the Image: Subject & Composition: The central figure is an older man with a beard, wearing a fedora hat, dark sunglasses, a trench coat, and a tie. He holds a large knife in one hand and a decorative goblet in the other. A single tomato sits on a plate in front of him...
