I took this photograph in Pawtuxet Village. The bridge connecting Warwick to Cranston has nice views of the river and the cove. This was shot looking down on the river view side, almost 90 degrees down. I was drawn to the rock formations, especially this one, reminiscent of a meditative face. I captured it at a high shutter speed, so the water on the left looks like a textured surface. Together, they created for me a found abstract.

Interesting. On my first look, I thought that the darker elements of the photo were just a darker type of rock. Turns out it’s water. Now that you pointed it out, I see it. Thanks.

I looked directly South into the sun and in the very far distance I saw a deer walking on the beach. As you can image a normal edit look very underwhelming, so...

I edited for Tonality and the look of Oil on Canvas - cropped about 50% (no Presets used). Perhaps a bit too much editing?

I wanted to give viewers the space to interpret the image as they wanted, so I held off on clear explanations.

I don't think so. I can visualize seeing this in real life with the position of the sun (time of day) and clouds.

Hi Cemal,

An intriguing composition which is guaranteed to get the viewer doing a double take, before leaning in for a closer look.

We suspect many will still be left wondering...

(The choice of aspect ratio is spot on too).

Thank you for sharing... 🙂

Hi Dean,

Right place, perfect timing and a pleasing edit - love the colour palette and the haze enhanced graduations between the different elements.

(Our only feedback would be to recommend you consider straightening the slight right-left tilt).

Nice work - thank you for sharing... 🙂

Past bloom, not past beauty. A field patiently waiting for harvest, with a few stubborn red poppies refusing to say goodbye.

Hi Pavel,

That's quite a sight - but beyond the raw beauty, the composition has a illusionary effect which seems to draw the scene ever closer to the viewer.

(We would encourage people to sit and stare into it for a little while).

Well seen - and beautifully captured.

Thank you for sharing... 🙂

So much for Auto level. Fixed, and thanks.

New Moon Night Sky photography and Big Meadows on Skyline Drive in Virginia. Milky way was low and there was a bit of haze from the smoke that drifted south from Canada forest fires. First time using the Move Shoot Move Star Tracker. 7.14.26

What is the dark "double peak" toward the right-hand of the horizon? Originally I thought it may be a sea-stack with an aperture, but the opening appears to be lower than the waterline.

Good eye. That is called "Twin Rocks Arch" near Rockaway Beach, Oregon at a distance of 6.4 miles away. Here is a photo of it from last January.

There's a very nice poem entitled "Leisure" by W. H. Davies
What is life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare?

Never been a poem memoriser, but that is one that's stuck since schooldays. Been deployed many times... ;-)

An unexpected sight. The sky was too hazy to pickup details but worth shooting anyway.

Hi Walter,

Always worth taking a punt at a nice sunrise/ sunset - taking due care of the eyes (and sensor!) of course.

Some beautiful shots captured here - particularly like the final one with the complimentary wispy clouds.

Thank you for sharing... 🙂
