Birds Stella the Sea-eagle

This is a Steller's Sea-eagle, seen in Newfoundland. It is a rare visitor from Asia. It has been given a name: Stella of course. The thinking is that it is a female.

Advice: Female are generally larger than male, but If asked, "Does this tree make me look fat?' Just slowly put your camera down and silently walk away.

Great shot. I have never seen one, but I have read the book: "The Stoner Eagles" by the English writer William Horwood.

LOL. Walking away would have been a challenge, as we were in a small boat. Besides, we were biding our time hoping it would take off. It never did, not for us anyway.

Shooting wasn't easy as it was foggy.

Stella has been around a few years, hasn't she(?).

Now (this year) apparently exhibiting nesting behaviour. (Which suggests that her arrival was at an early age).

Yes, this bird has been around for quite a while - and seems to have travelled around the area in the Canadian maritime provinces and Maine.
