  1. Yes
Always used R6 or R6ii for equine but used second hand R5 yesterday sharp, easier cropping but eye tracking just not as good search for many things before locking on.
Sometimes doesn't lock on at all.
Same settings as R6 even tried R6 and locked on fine not sure what issue is will go through all settings.
PS love the camera and output will work it out im sure and yes BBF

had a crack yesterday on dogs eye tracking worked good. Must be not enough contrast dark eyes dark horse.

R6ii no such issues.

Still love out put from R5

another show on next Saturday see what happens

and correct as most of day I had camera f5.6 to f8 and shutter 1/1000 to 1250

must have enacted auto something

I had a similar issue when out in Yellowstone national park shooting black bears and grizzlies. The R5 had a really tough time (read impossible) getting any focus at all with the black bear, and a difficult time with the griz. I didn't have my R6ii then, but I will for my next visit. For most other things the R5 worked like a charm.

It can be one of two things. Your focus point could be incorrect, or the light on the subject. The electronics of the camera will focus on the brightest part of the picture. An example of this is family pictures where the camera person shoots the subject, and the camera focuses on the brightest part of the picture (background) and the foreground is so dark, the subject is unrecognizable.

Good luck.
