  1. Yes
Bit crook this morning in down town south Australia.
Had quite a read of many posts on here I’ve not read.
With fear of sounding obnoxious are many of us on here old farts except tim of course.
Maybe I’m the oldest 59 coming 60 maybe why we all get on respect learnt over the years.
Myself semi retired farmer but still live on farm if I want a day off photographing ask the son and off I go unless something pressing I need to help with

You can infer my age from my intro post a few weeks ago, but it's safe to say I'm older than you.

I haven't officially retired, because our tree crops keep on producing despite my best efforts to ignore them, but I don't feel so guilty about taking time for myself as I used to. Apart from photography, that incudes trying to stay fit - hours a week on my bike, and a couple of sessions in the gym. One day I might be able to handhold one of the big whites...

Retired at 65 (three years ago) so my age is easy to figure out! "Sometimes" I wish I was still working because the Honey Do list never seems to get any shorter but I can wander off and take photos any time so life is good.;)

Showing my age. Helped moved a few boxes at work down a flight of steps. This morning while getting out to shoot some wildlife, I left the soreness in my legs. The anticipation of getting a good shot overcame the soreness. MY biggest hurdle is that all the injuries compounded over time has caught up with me.

‘PKM-UK‘ is a gestalt entity - Phil (physically over 60, mentally under 12) and Karen (much better than Phil in both respects).

We are enthusiastic hobbyist photographers, with Phil being responsible for all editing/ post-processing (we shoot raw).

:)

i just feel there are more oldies on here than other forums all due respect by the way.
Im a late starter. Long story keep it concise my older sister passed away unexpectdly about 3 weeks after xmas in jan 22 organizing funeral realized how few photos we had even xmas that just went not even a single pic.
Tried storm photography way back in my 20s the 80s with a pentax anyway got married divorced married again kids galore 5 so decided to take it up again.
And not lose any more memories.

And also i find older guys have wit humour and sarcasm and dont take offence like many of the woosies on alot of photo forums and also havent come across one smart arse on here yet unless its me.

cheers guys gals and convertables from my humble farm in south australia sorry for the novel

edit i usually arise 6 am maybe earlier have a quick look of news then the weather and then here to check out overnight happenings getting busier on here great

As a fellow/former nCanadian (lived in the USA for the last 32 years), who retired at 63 some five years ago my age is also easy to figure out. With the arrival of grandkids a few years ago my photo output is waaay up. I’m still consulting, so that’s my excuse for avoiding certain aspects of the Honey-Do list!

68 and retired for nearly 2 years. Retiring was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. No more Zoom conference calls, no more office politics and more time to devote to photography (when the wife isn't handing me me "to do" lists).

Soooooo..are all of you Guys? (As opposed to Gals.)
I know there's more women on here somewhere..... ;)
I'm 66. Retired. No point in giving my husband to-do lists... I end up doing most of them.
I have a blast with photography. I love to drive and camp, hike in the summer, snowshoe and x-country ski in the winter. Only problem is carrying the gear and trying to get a backpack off fast enough to get the good photos!! My favorite is to go out on the back roads and trails in my lil 4x4. My husband gets bored with that and seldom goes with me. He stays at home and plays in his woodshop. Now tell me that ain't boring!!!!!!!;):)

Hi Anne,

Karen (of Phil and Karen) is female. We share a love of photography, but Karen is a far better photographer than I (Phil) will ever be - she has 'the eye' for composition, angles and textures and all that kind of stuff.

Karen is a very accomplished cyclist, having completed the Lands End to John O'Groats ride. Her preferred camera set-up is the R7 with EF 100-400L II, else EF 16-35L. (She also loves our Sony RX10 IV's ).

Having said all that, I do all our editing/ post-processing, along with any tech and forum stuff - so although you'll get to see her images, it will be my words that accompany them.

(Note - Karen is more than capable of doing any of the techie stuff, it's just that I have the one thing she currently lacks - free time).

Phil and Karen

PS. Karen is also my angel, soul mate and wife... :)

Well I'm 76 and retired at 63 when VR was offered. Started with a Canon AE1 when it came out and over the many years worked my way up through the various Canon cameras until I was able to afford the 5D models and now the R5.

My dad gave my first camera a little over 70 years ago which suggests I'm probably a little older than most here:p

We may be close, but I bet I am older than you and Ken A. I watched the first print being made in a darkroom about 72 years ago. It was like magic!

Hi, Karen and Phil!!!
I knew I'd seen other women on here! Quite a few, actually, just not on this particular thread.
I'm glad Karen at least has time for taking photos, even if she doesn't have enough time to edit them. And yes, I sure know how long it takes to edit. It's the prime reason I don't post on many forums.

I've seen your posts on here, now I'll have to go look at both of your photos! Nice to meet you!! :)

I'm 66 now. I ran my own commercial photo studio here in Houston from 1980 to about 2005, had to close for a while when I took care of my aging parents and then just shut it down as the market was changing a lot when I came back to it. Shot catalogs, annual reports, local and regional ads with 35mm to 8 x 10 cameras. I still love to shoot but now I do it for myself and not some ad agency or art director!

Thanks for making me feel like a schoolboy, y'all.
Now in early 40s was recently discussing with a co-worker how different from us the new generation of 20-something new hires is. They're like aliens - completely different mentality, make us feel old.

All things are relative.

Notice I didn't say exactly how much overf 70 years ago. Suspect it might be a close race if you have an 8 in front of your age:D

Aha! I have seen more than 79 years! I enjoyed your car photo collection too. Will browse the others later on.

Rest assured that when you were the 20-something new hire those 40s guys felt the same way about you.

At a mere 57 I feel quite young looking at these posts. Still working for my sins, which are many & varied and trying to get out & take photos whenever I can. I'm not sure if its the age demographics that keep this site civilised or the shared love of photography minus the brand wars. DPR for all of its pluses, of which the wealth of information & forums like PMUK's were a few, was / is a bit of a cess-pool in the comments section, a rabbit hole that I 'occasionaly' found myself falling down.
This site is a breath of fresh air & much appreciated.
