We are going on vacation and want to travel as light as possible. I have an R6 mkii. My lenses are 24-105 f4 and 28-70 f2.8. I love the 28-70 because it’s light and sharp but will probably miss the zoom on vacation. (I never shoot wildlife). If I take the 24-105 f4, I will want something small and lightweight for indoors. Was considering the 24mm 1.8 or 35 mm 1.8. I’d love any comments or thoughts you might have.

Here is my very first shot with my RF 24mm f/1.8. I have shot a few night shots as well, but usually shoot at f/2.8.
I still have a habit of grabbing my RF 15-35mm f/2.8 when shooting these focal ranges, but it is a bit heavier.

Hi Roxanne,

We have the RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro (a fine lens we really should use more often). Not sure of your budget, but for 'something small and lightweight for indoors' perhaps also consider the (relatively) cheap RF 16mm f/2.8, or (relatively) expensive RF 14-35mm f/4L IS. Both are fun and useful for indoor/ travel scenarios.

Ditto the Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM (picked mine up used for about 345USD). Probably the travel lens I take out most at night. Sometimes the 16mm, but the 35 is a nicer balance.

A good lens for what it does, with it's drawbacks
I have had this lens since it came out and it is my lightweight go to lens for walking around in the city and using my infrared-converted camera...
