I don't use this very often. I only have the Multi-controller enabled in M mode. I'm in modes C1-3 90% of the time for wildlife. I also don't have the LCD enabled to move AF points around in any mode.
I found this video a few weeks ago and lost it. Found it again. Example is at 12:40 where he presses in the Multi-controller and the AF point turns into a double lined white broken square. He then uses the controller to move that AF point left or right.
My guess is this applies to all R bodies.
