Austin area. Name is Mike or MJ. I recently switched to Canon RF with a new to me model R. I am trying not get distracted with too much gear so it’s that body along with a couple of small primes. (Kept my old 6D and STM 40 2.8 as a backup) Looking forward to read posts on the RF series and what folks have for suggestions.

Welcome! There’s a lot of talented and experienced people here, (not me…), and I’m sure you will get a lot out of it. Be sure to post some pictures, because we want see what’s going on in Austin.

Hi and welcome to the forum MJ. I also went from a 6D to the R and to be honest, I never touched the 6D again except to ship it to its new owner. The R is a really good camera when compared to the 6d, but since it was the original RF mount, just wait until you try a newer RF camera....

But, enjoy the R as you can get some wonderful shots with it. Looking forward to seeing some of your images.

Welcome AJ - another from 6D to R. Never looked back and quite satisfied with what the R does for me.

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
