Really glad I found this group. I currently have the R6 with the Rf 24-105 F/4-7.1 IS STM lens. I have moved from a Nikon D90 and the difference is, as expected , amazing. I am still very much a beginner although I have been doing a lot more photography since getting the R6. I am currently reviewing various lenses but as I don't really have a specific style I am really unsure of what to get. I feel drawn to a longer telephoto . I think it may be a good idea to rent one or two and find out how I get on with them.

I'm not keen on changing lenses in the field. You never know what is floating around to land inside your camera. Therefore I bought as my first RF lenses the 24-240. Imo, you will only need another lens if you need a faster f or a different focal length. If you are a pro you won't need any advice here

Thanks Greg. I was out in Bushy Park last week and I really noticed the limitations on my 24-105 lens compared to my friends who mainly had longer telephoto lenses. I shall look into renting , and defiantly not a pro so all advice very welcome.

I am more than reasonably sure what you will end up doing. Be prepared for the extra weight, it's 1.5 kg including a Canon R5.

Welcome to the forum Ann and thank you for joining up here! Renting is always a wise idea, especially when lenses can be quite expensive! I have the RF 100-500 and it's a fantastic lens but I still feel it's overpriced. The RF 600 and RF 800 get very good reviews but you do need decent levels of light for shooting at f/11. Of course you could always purchase an EF lens and use an adapter, but you'll want to research how well the combination works first.

I moved from a 7DII to the R5 a few months ago and still use all my EF lenses via the adaptor and find they all perform extremely well . I visit Bushy Park every year for the rut and use my Sigma 150-600 C with excellent results. This is from last month
